This was the first time the extraordinary works by artists Sir Anthony Caro and Shelia Girling were presented alongside each other within the same gallery space - a truly significant and major coup for Peterborough.

The huge and bold sculpture Aurora featured at the front of the building invited you to explore the large and colourful Girling canvases, Caro’s steel sculptures, that tumble and dangle from the edges of plinths, delicate paper sculptures and large works such the Month of May and Emma This.

A 64-Year Conversation About Art was born from the planning of the restoration and re-install of Peterborough’s own Caro sculpture, Lagoon. We were grateful to Barford Sculptures, Annely Juda Fine Art and the Caro family for their generosity and support, which enabled us to have this important exhibition.
