The Peterborough Remembers Exhibition, in The Community Gallery from Saturday 25th October to Thursday 27th November, is dedicated to the memory of Peterborough’s Old Contemptibles, a very special group of men, who bravely fought in The Great War 1914-1918.

In conjunction with the exhibition, we are proud to host two special lectures exploring key aspects of the Great War.

Book your ticket now to come along and find out more from two excellent speakers, who are experts in their fields.

Both talks will take place at 11am in the Howe Room at Peterborough Museum.

Special Great War 1914-1918 Lectures
The Old Contemptibles Association and its history.
25 October, 11am

Andrew Thornton will deliver a talk on “The Old Contemptibles’ Association” and its history.

Andrew is a researcher and author with a BA(Hons) in History and War Studies and he also holds a MPhil for his thesis on the Territorial Force in Staffordshire from 1908 to 1915. He has been researching the Old Contemptibles for many years.

British Expeditionary Force Battles In 1914
1 November, 11am

Taff Gillingham will deliver a talk on the “British Expeditionary Force Battles In 1914”.

Taff is a military historian, specialising in the British and Commonwealth soldier from 1899 to 1960. He has been the historical advisor and production historian for film, television and theatre productions.
