A watercolour art exhibition

Art Exhibition: Wilfrid R. Wood

In the late 1930s and 1940s Wilfrid R. Wood, and engraver and watercolourist, was commissioned to paint the vanishing street scenes of Peterborough, where whole sections of the old city were being demolished to make way for progress. This followed a commission to record the buildings and street scenes of Stamford in Lincolnshire before the threat of imminent change, where he also held his first art exhibition in 1937. A large collection of his watercolour artwork, held here at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery, will be on display and free to the public to visit from 13 January until 6 April 2024.
