KS2+ School Session

Be inspired and get creative in our themed Art sessions! Your class will develop their artistic skills using different techniques and processes, in response to our temporary exhibitions and permanent collections. Explore artforms in a fun and sensory way, giving your students meaningful, personal experiences in looking at, creating and enjoying Art.

Activities (45 minutes each)
  • Exhibition Visit: Learn about the artworks in the Gallery as part of the current exhibition and complete a mini-sketchbook.
  • Skills Workshop: Influenced by the work in the Art Gallery, develop skills in a certain style, process or technique to create an individual artwork.
  • Drawing From The Collection: Playful mark making and imaginative drawing, inspired by the stories and ideas of the artworks or artefacts from the Museum collection. Choose from: Landscapes, Portraits, Abstract, Sculpture & Peterborough.
  • Art For The Senses: Analyse artforms around the building in an imaginative, interactive experience – feel, move, smell and listen to the Art!

Learning Objectives

By participating in these sessions, pupils will:

  • Understand the ideas and themes in the work of artists.
  • Analyse artwork using art vocabulary.
  • Express their own responses to their art and work done by others.
  • Develop practical skills in handling different materials and tools.
  • Explore new styles and techniques.
