Paranormal Investigations

Step inside the most haunted building in Peterborough... if you dare!

With over 500 years of history and countless chilling tales, Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery is one of the region’s most active paranormal locations—making it a must-visit for serious ghost hunters and paranormal investigation groups.

The reason for its haunted reputation? A building with centuries of intense human stories is bound to leave a mark...

Among the many spirits said to roam the building is Sergeant Thomas Hunter, known as 'the Lonely ANZAC'. An Australian soldier who died from injuries in the building when it was used as a hospital during WWI. Thomas is known to have been seen many times as a grey apparition around the building, mainly on the museum's main stair case, close to the Victorian Operating Theatre, usually just a glimpse - so once you blink, suddenly there isn't anybody there...

You might also encounter The Girl in the Gallery— very rarely seen, but on many encounters heard and recorded on EVP recordings. She may keep her identity a mystery, but she clearly has something to communicate.

And these are just two of the many stories. New paranormal activity is being reported all the time, from unexplained footsteps and ghostly whispers to moving barrels in the vaults.

Looking for a location with real stories and real encounters? Peterborough Museum is waiting.
