1 August
Sculpture: Jim Tovey
£55 per person

Contemporary Sculpture: Béton brut, wood, plaster and clay.
Get your imagination visible from all angles at this group workshop. We will be looking at a number of different contemporary sculpture methods; exploring practical issues, limits and the possibilities that different material properties open up. A short talk, followed by an experiment session in the morning. Following this, choose a material and make a piece to take home in the afternoon where a model will be on hand for those wishing to work from life to create a portrait in 3D. Bring overalls or clothes that can get messy.

Includes: Materials, lunch, and all-day refreshments.

Saturday 8 August
Embroidery: Helen Tovey

£55 per person

Explore the key stitches from the Bayeux tapestry and their use in outlining and filling, pattern making and colourwork.
On display for the first time in the UK from its home in France, the Bayeux tapestry celebrates the Battle of Hastings 1066. This famous tapestry is actually an embroidery, stitched using wool c.1070s. A notable portent of doom for King Harold was the arrival of Halley’s Comet, which is depicted on the Bayeux tapestry next to the word ‘STELLA’. Try out woollen thread in a new contemporary comet kit, with wool’s different properties to cotton skeins. With expert guidance throughout the day, this workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced stitchers alike.

Includes: Embroidery kit, lunch, and all-day refreshments.
If you are allergic to wool or would prefer to work with a cotton kit, please let us know when booking.

Saturday 15 August
Watercolour: David Swinton
£55 per person

Sunrises & Sunsets in Watercolour
Join this inspiring watercolour workshop and discover how to capture the drama and atmosphere of sunrises and sunsets. Working in two contrasting styles, explore the unique qualities of different watercolour papers - smooth NOT and highly textured ROUGH - to achieve strikingly different effects.
Guided step by step, you’ll learn how to build glowing skies, blend rich colour transitions, and create expressive silhouettes, from delicate tree forms to coastal landscapes like lighthouses at dusk. Whether you prefer bold, expressive techniques or softer, more controlled washes, this workshop will help you expand your creative range.
Includes: Materials, lunch, and all-day refreshments.

Saturday 22 August
Drawing: Jim Tovey
£55 per person

Ink dip pens, brushes and washes.
Focusing on the use of the drawing tools and ink, you will learn to control the medium in terms of: both light and line-making, tone and colour, and technically ordering the media when structuring a composition. Ink dip pens and brush use spans a huge spectrum from calligraphy to watercolour and many of the pens and brushes can be versatile enough to span the genres. This is a hands-on tutorial in the morning, with attendees able to work from a life subject in the afternoon.

Includes: Materials, lunch, and all-day refreshments.

Saturday 29 August
Oil Pastels: Tony Nero
£55 per person

Join this fun and inspiring landscape workshop, using oil pastels. Art is all about mark-making, regardless of what materials or tools you’re using. No experience needed, just relax and allow yourself to be creative. You will be guided through to producing an exciting Fen landscape. You will be shown how to blend colours and turn regular marks into lovely blended skies. Creating depth and adding light and shadows into your work. At the end of the session you will have gained confidence and created a piece of art you can be proud of.
Includes:
Materials, lunch, and all-day refreshments.
