Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery is inviting families, young people and archaeology enthusiasts to take part in the next stage of the My Must Farm project - a National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project bringing the internationally significant Bronze Age discoveries of Must Farm to life.
Following the announcement in November 2025 of a £250,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project team has begun work on digitising the Must Farm collection to make it accessible online, alongside developing interpretation plans for a new permanent gallery curated with input and feedback from the community. A programme of further events is also being planned as the project develops.
Alongside this, an interchangeable display in the museum’s First People Gallery will showcase rotating objects from the Must Farm collection, giving visitors regular opportunities to encounter different artefacts, learn more about the site, and share their thoughts via an in-gallery comments drop box to help inform the future permanent exhibition.
The first public My Must Farm event will take place on:
Saturday 28 February, 10.30am–3pm
First People Gallery & Howe Room at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery
This free drop-in event will give visitors the chance to have their say on how the Must Farm story is told, helping to shape the future permanent exhibition. Activities throughout the day will include viewing Must Farm objects on display, getting up close to artefacts, handling replicas, and for families there’ll be dressing up and building a LEGO Bronze Age roundhouse activities too.
Visitors will also be able to speak directly with the project team and share feedback and ideas about Must Farm and what they would like to see in the future as part of the permanent exhibition.
The My Must Farm project aims to place community voices at the heart of interpretation, ensuring that the story of the “Pompeii of the Fens” reflects both its archaeological importance and its relevance today. Alongside the permanent exhibition, the project will deliver accessible digital resources and opportunities for learning, research and creativity.
My Must Farm is made possible thanks to National Lottery players and supports Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery’s mission to preserve, interpret and share collections of archaeology, social history and the arts, while promoting learning, research and community engagement.
