Set in the vibrant cathedral City of Peterborough, the Museum is located in one of the city’s most historic buildings and is home to a collection of over 200,000 items including objects of both national and international importance.

Recently refurbished, this Grade II listed building dates back to the Georgian period with some parts dating as far back as Tudor times.

Located along Priestgate, the Museum is an oasis in the heart of the city centre and a stone’s throw away from the Queensgate shopping complex and major road and rail transport routes. Our flexible spaces offer the ideal location for all your meeting/conference needs.

The Museum team will be on hand throughout, providing guidance and support from enquiry to completion.

Refreshments can be enjoyed in the comfort of each room through pre-arranged orders or by visiting the café, a dynamic space which evolves with our exhibitions program. Our café offers great tasting coffee, speciality tea, cakes and freshly prepared sandwiches and light refreshment.

The Lecture Room Howe Room / Lecture Room

Set in the waiting room of the former Peterborough Infirmary, another past life of the Museum building, the Howe Room is a flexible space and features a digital projector, whiteboard, hearing loop, kitchenette area and accessible toilet facilities It is perfect for either daytime or evening hire for meetings, seminars, lectures, workshops and conferences.

The Board Room / Squires Parlour

Everyone’s favourite room in the Museum, the Board Room is an elegant Georgian style room modelled on the original décor of the Priestgate Mansion and with a mock Georgian regency walnut conference table as the stunning centrepiece of the room. This south facing room benefits from a high ceiling and elegant tall windows which allow natural light to flood in.

The Urban Kitchen / Coffee House

The Georgian Kitchen is a versatile room which can be used in a number of ways. As well as being an ideal hire space, the Coffee House also works perfectly as a break-out space. With much to tempt you including great tasting coffee, speciality tea, delicious cakes and freshly prepared sandwiches, why not use this room to take a break from your meeting.

The Studio & City Gallery

The Studio is a creative space which benefits from excellent lighting and is ideal for painting workshops, fashion shows or photography sessions. A versatile and multi-functional space, the studio has a vast floor space ideal for a cat walk.

The City Gallery houses temporary and touring exhibitions featuring both local and nationally renowned artists, showcasing all forms of art. This is the perfect location for a drinks reception and adaptable for meetings, conferences and workshops.

*Office hours are 9am – 5pm Tuesday to Sunday. All other times are considered to be outside office hours. Access: There is full disabled access to the Howe room, Georgian Kitchen and the City Gallery. There are disabled toilets on the ground floor. **Daily rates available on request and special discounts for block booking.
