Arriving at the Museum

Arriving at the Museum

The Museum's main entrance is located on Priestgate street. The main entrance has two sets of steps, the first consists of three steps with a rail and a second step by the entrance without rail support. Step free access to the Museum is available to the right of the entrance and through the sign posted staff car park. For more information please see our Visual Story.

Arriving by train

Visitors arriving by train may follow a step free route, from the Stations main exit, to the Museum. Please follow the brown tourist information “Museum” and black City Centre signs from the station. This route is approximately 550m and includes three road crossings with dropped curbs, two of which are Zebra crossings and one unmarked. For more information please see our Visual Story.

Arriving by car or mini-van

One on site disabled parking bay is available to visitors. The car park is accessed via Priestgate, and located to the right of the Museum's entrance. Booking is advised as we cannot guarantee the availability of this bay. Please give at least two days notice when booking. For more information please see our Visual Story.

To book the use of the Museum's disabled parking bay or wheelchair, please contact the Museum's reception team.

To book accessible parking, we will require your name, contact details, vehicle registration, the date of your visit and an estimated time of arrival. Please display your blue badge clearly when parking on site. Booked wheelchairs can be collected from reception.

Please give at least two days notice when booking.

Visual Story

This Visual Story will provide you with an in depth photographic guide of the Museum. Some of our Galleries may be different when you visit, but this guide will provide you with general information to help plan your visit.

Visitors with visual impairments

Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the Museum, if your dog requires relief, please notify a member of staff who will direct you to an appropriate area. Water bowls are available on request from reception.

Large print guides for our permanent galleries and select exhibition are available from the Reception or online below. Physical guides are available in Braille, 14pt Clear Print, 18pt Large Print and 24pt large print formats, our online HTML guides will use your custom browser settings.

Quiet Opening Times

Join us on a Shhh Sunday (the first Sunday of the month) at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery, ideal for anyone looking for a quieter or more relaxed visit.
